Cultural/Educational Assemblies
All-school grade-appropriate assemblies are scheduled periodically in the school year. Variety,
theatrical, educational enrichment, and cultural awareness are the
major emphases of these experiences.
Chamber Singers
The Chamber Singers is a choral ensemble composed of students in Grade 4 and 5. The choir is a non-auditioned group and all students are welcome. This beginning choir rehearses in the music room for one 45 minute period each week. They participate as leaders of song for some school liturgies, present Christmas programs at area nursing homes and are featured in the Candles and Carols Advent/Christmas Program. They also participate in a combined band and choral concert in the spring.
Schola Singers
Schola Singers is a choral ensemble composed of students in Grades 6 through 8. The choir is a non-auditioned group and all students are welcome. The choir rehearses in the music room for one 45 minute period each week. They serve as cantors and leaders of song for all school liturgies, are featured in the Candles and Carols Advent/Christmas Program, participate in special parish liturgies such as Catholic Schools Week, and attend area middle school choral festivals (Loyola Academy and VanderCook College of Music). They also participate in a combined band and choral concert in the spring.
Handbell Choir
The Hand Bell Choir is an ensemble composed of students in Grades 5 through 8. This ensemble requires that students take an inventory test of their musical reading skills. Rainbows For All God's Children
Rainbows for
All God’s Children is a unique peer support group for all
children who have suffered a significant loss in their lives, either
by death, divorce, or any other painful transition. The purpose
of this program is to provide these children with an opportunity
to meet new friends who have shared similar experiences and to have
trained, caring adults be present for the children while they sort
through and understand their grief. It is a way to help children
come to a healthy acceptance of what has happened in their family.
The program fosters a better understanding of God as a friend and
a parent, and instills a feeling that each change in life can become
an occasion for a new beginning. The aim of the Rainbows for All
God’s Children program is to implant in these grieving children
a belief in their own goodness and the value of their own family.
The format of
Rainbows for All God’s Children consists of twelve sessions
divided into 2 six-week semesters. Once a week, for approximately
40 minutes, the children come together in their small groups to
discuss various topics in relation to the change in their family
unit: such as SELF, TRUST, ANGER, FAMILY, GOD. The children will
share in an activity and discussion that is focused on each topic.

Eighth Grade Dances
As part of
the eighth grade curriculum, we offer a social program which
consists of dance lessons and several dances throughout the school
year. The lessons are under the direction of Dr. Robert Marciante.
Servers
Sixth through
eighth grade boys and girls are invited to become servers at Mass
during the week and on the weekends. Both the server and a parent
must sign a statement which shows they realize the responsibility
assumed.
The parish priests
train the servers, and a schedule of appointments is given to each
server. If a student cannot serve when scheduled, it is the server’s
responsibility to get a substitute. Each server is given a complete
summer schedule of assignments before summer vacation begins.
Art Appreciation
The Art in Action program relies on parent volunteers to enhance the art curriculum by showing and discussing famous works of art every month in the classrooms.
