Queen of All Saints rejoices in the incorporation of new members into the Body of Christ through the Sacrament of Baptism. If you are a registered parishioner, read the section on "How do I arrange a baptism?"
If you are not a registered parishioner, please contact the parish in which you live in order to schedule your child's baptism. It is important that a child is baptized in the parish in which his/her family lives. Only in three special cases (grandparents are registered parishioners, previous children were baptized at Queen of All Saints, or parents were married at Queen of All Saints) will we consider scheduling the baptism here.
The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is celebrated select Sundays of the month, depending on the time of year, at 1:30PM. A Baptismal Preparation class for the parents is required. These dates vary and must be scheduled in advance. See the Baptism Dates tab for our schedule. If an adult or a school age child seeks baptism, special arrangements should be made by contacting the rectory.
Registration for baptism at Queen of All Saints is required. Fill out the Baptismal Registration Form by clicking below.
Turn it in or email it to the parish office at [email protected]. At that time, we will be in contact to verify the information, answer any questions, provide additional information and set the date and time for your child’s Baptism.
The parents may also need to enroll in a Baptismal Preparation Class. All new parents are asked to complete a Baptismal Preparation Class before their child is baptized. If this is not your first child, we ask that you attend a class if you attended at a parish other than Queen of All Saints or it has been more than five years since you last attended the class here.
The preparation class is important for the information it provides regarding the ceremony and for a broader understanding of the significance of the Sacrament of Baptism. When scheduling your baptism you will also be given Baptism Prep class dates as well.
At Queen of All Saints, children are generally baptized when they are between two to six months of age. However, all children up to age of seven are welcome to Baptism.
We also welcome children age seven or older to Baptism. We offer baptismal preparation designed to meet the needs of older children and their parents. We also welcome adults interested in Baptism to join our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) process.
Please contact our parish office at 773-736-6060 or [email protected] for either of these situations.
Qualifications to be a Godparent are:
The parents may choose one or two godparents (one godmother and one godfather.) Additional sponsors are welcome, but are not officially considered godparents. A non-Catholic cannot serve as a godparent, but he or she can participate in the baptism as a Witness if they are Christian. However, it remains the responsibility of the Catholic godparent (there must be one) to ensure a Christian upbringing for the child.
A Godparent or Christian Witness who is unable to attend the baptism may have a representative (proxy) take his/her place.
The Baby's Garment
A white garment is a sign of the newly baptized new life in Christ. Your child's baptismal garment need not be a traditional baptismal or christening gown; it can be any clothing that is mainly white.
Fee for Baptism
Queen of All Saints does not have a set fee. However most families offer a donation of $50 to $100 to the Parish at this important moment of passage for their child. This may be either given to the priest at the Baptism, submitted electronically using the button below or mailed to the parish.
