MISSION
The mission of the Finance Council is to provide advice to, and to be consulted by, the pastor in financial matters. Working with the pastor and business manager, it provides prudent oversight and guidance over parish objectives to increase revenues and constrain costs in a variety of areas, including regular collection income and bequests, parish savings, major expenditures, general operating expenses, building maintenance and the annual school subsidy. Its focus is both short-term and long-term.
MEETING SCHEDULE
The Finance Council meets the second Monday of every month except July. Due to the frequently confidential nature of its discussions with the pastor the meetings are not open to the parish.
MEMBERSHIP
There are generally between eight and 10 members on the Finance Council, who are selected by the pastor as positions become available. Individual members are chosen to reflect experience in a variety of professional backgrounds, including finance, management, construction, law and other areas relevant to the administration of the temporal aspects of the parish. Terms are for indefinite periods as determined by the pastor.
