MISSION/WHO WE ARE
Troop 626 is a year-round program for youth 11-17 years old that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help you become the best version of yourself. Scouts BSA Troop 626 is a linked Boy's and Girl's Troop. Both Troops share the 626 number. Both Troops meet on Monday nights, having separate meetings. Both Troops will have several "linked" outings and campouts throughout the year. We are a chartered organization of Queen of All Saints Basilica.
We are a Troop run by Scouts for Scouts. Our Troop operates using the traditional “patrol method.” Scouts are one of the few organizations for youth where the adults are not “in charge.” The Scouts manage most aspects of our Troop operations under the guidance of our adult leaders.
If you are new to the Scouting program, our Troop has the resources to get the most out of your Scouting experience. We can set you on the trail to develop a one-of-a-kind skill set, from thriving outdoors to better understanding what you mean to your community - this is the place.
If you are already familiar with the program or just looking to up the ante on your Scouting experience, we have you covered. We are super active and looking for Scouts with the same passion that we have. We have quarterly Courts of Honor, an active advancement program, great support from Youth leaders as well as adult volunteers and plenty of opportunity for positions of responsibility that smaller Troops cannot always provide. Stop by and check out the Troop.
If Eagle Scout is your goal, we have the resources to help get you there. Troop 626 has over 56 Eagle Scouts since its inception in 2010.
MEETING SCHEDULE
Both our Troops meet most Monday's 7:00 to 8:30 pm from September until June in the Queen of All Saints School cafeteria, located at 6230 N. Lemont Avenue Chicago, IL 60646. See our website (below) for meeting dates.
ACTIVITIES
Our Troop camps on a Monthly basis. Both troops camp separately, but there will be several camp outs together. We spend two weeks over the summer at Camp Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan in Pearson, Wisconsin. We also have an extensive High Adventure program for older Scouts, which have led us to some very amazing sites in over 20 States. We go places, test your limits, push boundaries, and have one-of-a-kind adventures that cannot be found anywhere else. Some of our past trips included canoe and hiking treks in the Atchafalaya Basin, the Black Hills, Boundary Waters Canoe Base, Blue Ridge Mountains, Davis Mountains in West Texas and recently the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Troop 626 continued the adventure with a trip back to the Swamps of Louisiana in 2019.
